IS MY TICKET PURCHASE TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
No. Because lottery winnings are not taxable, lottery tickets are not tax deductible.

HOW DOES THE TAKE 50 ADD-ON® WORK?
Take 50 Add-On tickets are $10 each, 5-pack for $25 or 15-pack for $50.
Prize: There will be a guaranteed $257,040 minimum payout for the Take 50 Add-On Prize draw, or 50% of Take 50 Add-On ticket sales (whichever is greater). Regular updates will be available on MightyMillionsLottery.com.

HOW DOES THE 100 Days of Winning CASH CALENDAR ADD-ON WORK?
100 Days of Winning Cash Calendar Add-On tickets are $25 each, 3 for $50 or 6 for $75.
Prize: One hundred daily cash prizes of $2,500 from January 1, 2020 through to April 9, 2020. Total prize value of $250,000.

WHEN ARE THE DRAWS?

  • The VIP ticket sales deadline is midnight, August 30, 2019.
  • The VIP draw date is September 12, 2019.
  • The Bonus ticket sales deadline is midnight, September 27, 2019.
  • The Bonus draw date is October 2, 2019.
  • The Early Bird ticket sales deadline is midnight, November 1, 2019.
  • The Early Bird draw date is November 13, 2019.
  • The Final ticket sales deadline is midnight, November 22, 2019.
  • The Final draw date is December 4, 2019.
  • The Take 50® Add-on deadline is midnight, November 22, 2019.
  • The Take 50® Add-On draw date is December 3, 2019.
  • The Cash Calendar deadline is midnight, November 22, 2019.
  • The Cash Calendar Add-On draw date is December 3, 2019.

In order to be eligible for the VIP Prize, tickets must be purchased before the VIP ticket sales deadline of midnight, August 30, 2019. The (5) VIP draws will be made on September 12, 2019. In order to be eligible for the Bonus Prize, tickets must be purchased before the Bonus Prize ticket sales deadline of midnight, September 27, 2019. The Bonus Prize draw will be made October 2. In order to be eligible for the Early Bird Prize draw, tickets must be purchased before the Early Bird ticket sales deadline of midnight, November 1, 2019. In the event that all tickets are sold by the Early Bird sales deadline, then all remaining draws will be completed November 13, 2019. If tickets remain after the Early Bird ticket sales deadline, the only the Early Bird Prize draw will be made on November 13, 2019 and ticket sales will continue until the final ticket sales deadline of midnight, November 22, 2019. The final prize draws will be completed December 4, 2019.

Each ticket purchased before the VIP deadline will be eligible for all 2,530 draws. All tickets purchased prior to the Bonus deadline will be eligible for all 2,525 draws. Tickets purchased after the Bonus deadline, but before the Early Bird deadline will be eligible for 2,524 draws. Tickets purchased after the Early Bird deadline will be eligible for the remaining 2,523 draws.

HOW ARE WINNERS NOTIFIED?
All winners of prizes will be notified in writing by Deloitte LLP as to what they have won and how to claim their prize. A list of winners will be published online at MightyMillionsLottery.com on November 20 or December 11.

100 Days of Winning Cash Calendar winners will be posted on this site daily beginning January 1, through to April 9, 2020.

CAN SOMEONE WHO LIVES OUTSIDE ALBERTA BUY A TICKET?
This lottery is intended for residents of Alberta. Tickets can only be purchased and mailed within the province.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANNOT PICK UP MY PRIZE IN PERSON?
Arrangements may be made to have a prize shipped to you freight collect. Arrangements can also be made for someone else to claim your prize with your written approval and proper identification.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF A “BAD” PAYMENT WAS MADE FOR A TICKET (I.E. NSF CHEQUE)?
Only tickets that have been paid for and/or have been verified as paid for are eligible to be entered for the respective draw(s). If for any reason a payment is returned, the customer will be contacted to make good on the payment before the ticket is deemed invalid. The ticket will be deemed invalid if payment cannot be made prior to the date of the draw.

IF I WIN, IS MY TICKET STILL IN FOR OTHER DRAWS?
Yes, after each draw (including the Bonus and Early Bird draws), the winner is recorded and the ticket number returns for the remaining draws.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE MY PRIZE AS IS, OR CAN I JUST TAKE THE CASH?
Prizes must be accepted as awarded unless otherwise specified in the lottery brochure.

IF I WIN THE HOUSE, DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN IT OR CAN I SELL IT?
Once a home is awarded to a winner and the title is transferred, they do not have to move in. Any prize can be sold if the winner wishes to do so.

IF I SELL THE HOUSE (OR ANY OTHER PRIZE), DO I HAVE TO PAY TAX ON THE SALE AMOUNT?
No. Lottery winnings are not taxable in Canada (including any cash prizes).

IS THERE CAPITAL GAINS TAX ON THE HOUSE IF I SELL IT?
Winning a house is a lottery prize, not a capital gain. Lottery winnings are not taxable in Canada. Please seek professional counsel for further information.

IF I WIN A VACATION PRIZE BUT CANNOT TRAVEL, CAN I JUST TAKE THE CASH?
No, although travel prizes ARE TRANSFERABLE so you may give it or sell it to someone else.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CLAIM MY PRIZE?
All prizes must be claimed within a year of the applicable draw date. After one year and after all reasonable attempts to contact the winner have been made, unclaimed prizes will be returned to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation for further fundraising use, subject to Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission approval.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO PURCHASE A TICKET?
Purchasers must be at least 18 years of age. Tickets cannot be ordered in the name of a minor.

ARE THE PRIZES DONATED?
No. All prizes are purchased by the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation using the tender process.

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE A TICKET?
The following and their immediate family members are not eligible to purchase a ticket: Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation employees, Board members, the raffle manager and their employees, and the partners and employees of Deloitte LLP.

DOES THE NEW CANADIAN ANTI SPAM LEGISLATION (CASL) AFFECT YOUR LOTTERIES?
The primary purpose for sending our Commercial Electronic Messages (CEM) is to raise funds for our charity. Under the CASL, charities are considered exempt when sending CEMs for this purpose.
